Freestyle didn’t start as a business idea. It started as a shared frustration.

Brad (L) had a heart attack in his 30s. Caffeine was part of a lifestyle that stopped working for him overnight, so he cut it out. What he didn’t expect was how hard it would be to find a decent, everyday decaf to satisfy his love of coffee. Most were just an afterthought. For something so central to daily life, the options were surprisingly careless.

Nathan (R) hit a different wall. Over time, caffeine stopped feeling like fuel and started feeling like friction. But giving up coffee wasn’t on the table. He loves the ritual, the craft, and the freedom to drink a great cup whenever he wants—morning, afternoon, or late at night—without doing the math on how it’ll feel later.

We’ve been friends for over a decade, building things, chasing ideas, and pushing each other to do better work. Freestyle came out of that same energy. We weren’t looking to start another coffee company—we just refused to accept that “decaf” had to mean compromise. So we set out to make coffee that fits a healthier rhythm without losing what makes coffee worth drinking in the first place. Thoughtful sourcing. Careful roasting. No shortcuts.
